Our Planet Live in Concert Poster

A unique natural history live experience

Our Planet Live in Concert is specially developed by the series producers Silverback Films, and Oscar®-winning composer Steven Price. The outstanding natural world visuals of Our Planet with high-quality live elements, will result in a spectacular experience. The David Attenborough narrated Netflix series is being reimagined into a two-hour live show, with:

  • hosted live on stage by Oscar®-winning Our Planet composer, Steven Price
  • conducted by Robert Ames
  • amazing visual and sound effects
  • a 44-piece orchestra
  • one giant 4K projection screen, presenting the incredible cinematography of Our Planet
  • intelligent lighting heightening the visual experience, running in sync with the footage

All net profits from the Our Planet live project will be donated to WWF’s global Our Planet education and awareness initiatives. These include providing a wealth of educational materials for schools and young people, based on the series, with the aim to inspire and motivate the next generation to protect our planet!

About Steven Price, composer 

Steven Price is an Academy Award®-winning composer. In 2014, his groundbreaking score for Alfonso Cuarón’s Gravity garnered awards wins in the “Best Original Score” category for the Academy Awards. Price also won the BAFTAs, Critics’ Choice, and ASCAP’s first-ever “Film Composer of the Year” award. Price won his second BAFTA Award for The Hunt (2015), a landmark natural history documentary series for the BBC. For his work on Our Planet (Netflix), Price received two Emmy score nominations. Projects in 2020/2021 for Price include David Attenborough: A Life on Our Planet (Netflix), for which he received an Emmy nomination. But also Glen Keane’s Academy Award nominated animated feature Over the Moon (Netflix) for which he received an Annie nomination for Best Music – Feature, Sweet Girl, the directorial debut of Brian Andrew Mendoza (Netflix), and Edgar Wright’s Last Night In Soho (Focus Features). Steven Price will be hosting Our Planet Live in Concert.

About Steven Price, composer

About David Attenborough, narrator on screen 

David Frederick Attenborough’s broadcasting career spans six decades. He has played an extraordinary role in both reinventing and developing the medium of television, and in connecting people to the wonders of our planet, bringing distant peoples, animals and habitats into living rooms across the planet. As a BBC producer and executive, he has played a crucial part in creating new forms of programming and scheduling that to this day influence global broadcasting. His work includes many iconic productions such as Life on Earth, The Living Planet, The Trials of Life, Life of Mammals, The Blue Planet, Planet Earth, and Frozen Planet. Our Planet Live in Concert will include new on-screen narration by David Attenborough.

What is Our Planet Live in Concert? What can I expect to see?

Our Planet Live in Concert presents highlights from the ground-breaking 8-part David Attenborough narrated Netflix original series released in April 2019. Spectacular natural world footage, featuring some of the greatest wildlife spectacles on earth, is accompanied by live orchestral music. Combined with dazzling, intelligent lighting to heighten the visual experience beyond the screen and around the arena, you are fully immersed in the wonders of our planet. This unique event is hosted by the series composer and Academy Award®-winner Steven Price, alongside a 44-piece orchestra. It is a spectacular natural history live experience that you don’t want to miss!

What makes Our Planet Live in Concert stand out from a usual film in concert?

Our Planet Live in Concert truly is an event:

The Our Planet footage, shot in stunning 4k using the latest in camera technology, will be showcased on a giant screen. Alongside the incredible cinematography of Our Planet, a live orchestra will perform Steven Price’s powerful and moving musical score. Additionally, the atmospheric lighting will fully immerse the audience in the show, no matter where you are sitting. Audiences will ultimately feel like they are fully taken into the wonders of earth’s wildlife and their habitats.

Will all of the Our Planet episodes be shown in full length?

Our Planet Live in Concert is a compilation of the greatest moments of the series telling the story of the one home we all share. The show will feature some of the best moments from all eight episodes in the Netflix series. From the remote Arctic wilderness and mysterious deep oceans to the vast landscapes of Africa and jungles of South America. In total, the duration of the show will be approximately 120 minutes.

What kind of music can we expect to hear during the show?

The Our Planet series has a magnificent soundtrack composed by Academy Award®-winning composer Steven Price. The best excerpts from the soundtrack are performed LIVE by a 44-piece symphony orchestra. The orchestra is conducted by Robert Ames, alongside the incredible footage shown on the big screen. Additionally, Steven Price will also make a special live appearance in the show.

What is the spoken language during the concert?

The event will be presented in its original language (English), narrated on screen by the world-renowned broadcaster and naturalist, David Attenborough. In addition, the on-screen video footage will include subtitles in the local language.

Will there be a break during Our Planet Live in concert?

Yes, the musicians need a little breather. About 1 hour into the show, there will be a 20-minute intermission. After that, the second part of the show will last for another 60 minutes.

Will any of the proceeds go to WWF?

All net profits from the Our Planet Live project will be donated to WWF’s global Our Planet education and awareness initiatives. These include providing a wealth of educational materials for schools and young people, based on the series. Ultimately, the aim is to inspire and motivate the next generation to protect our planet!

Our Planet is a collaboration by Netflix, Silverback Films and WWF, showcasing the world’s rarest animals and precious natural habitats. The series aims to bring a new understanding of our planet and why nature matters to audiences around the world.

Is it allowed to take pictures or video during the concert?

No, it is not allowed to take pictures or video during the concert, due to copyright reasons, but also to make sure that the rest of the audience members are not disturbed. Besides, Our Planet Live is a very unique live experience so don’t forget to enjoy!
